Wisconsin Court System Fall Reporter Workshop
The Wisconsin Supreme Court invites members of the media to join us on November 18 from 8:30-11:15 a.m. at the Monona Terrace for a workshop designed to give reporters a better understanding of how the court system works and provide practical tools for covering court cases.
The morning will include a conversation with members of the Wisconsin Supreme Court about how cases reach the Court, how opinions are written and released, and what reporters should know when covering decisions. Reporters will also have an opportunity to ask questions directly of the justices. A second session will focus on navigating Wisconsin Circuit Court Access (CCAP) and the court system's statistics dashboard. A panel featuring a judge, an experienced journalist, and a CCAP representative will discuss how to find case information, interpret court data, and understand the limitations of these resources.
The workshop is open to journalists of all experience levels, whether you regularly cover the courts or are new to the beat. Our hope is to provide useful information, answer questions, and give reporters a chance to connect with the people who work in Wisconsin's court system.
We hope you can join us!
Submit your questions for the Supreme Court Justices
Please submit questions for the justices here. These questions will help guide the discussion, and there will also be opportunities to ask questions during the workshop.
